Get Out and Enjoy Our Local Favorites

by Scott Williamson

With the weather starting to feel more like spring, it’s a great time to step outside and enjoy what’s already around us — especially the locally owned spots that give our communities their character.

Whether it’s a walk through downtown Roseville, stopping into Fig Tree Coffee for a latte made by a local barista, or heading a few blocks over to Shady Coffee & Tea, downtown is especially enjoyable this time of year. It’s the kind of place where slowing down for a coffee or a stroll just feels right.

If you’re in the mood for something savory, Taco Tuesday at El Mariachi Taqueria in Rocklin is always a solid option. Or head out to Westpark and grab a slice at Farms Pizza, located near Fiddyment and Parkland. These are locally owned businesses that take real pride in what they serve — and it shows in both the food and the experience.

These are just a few examples. All around us are small, locally owned shops and restaurants that don’t exist anywhere else, simply because they’re built by the people who live here. From local boutiques to neighborhood farmers markets, there’s always something close by that makes getting out of the house worthwhile.

We live in an area that offers plenty to enjoy without needing to go far. And when we do decide to take a short drive, some of Northern California’s best destinations are still right within reach.

My final thoughts

This blog idea isn’t meant to promote any one specific business. It’s simply a reminder of how many great local spots we have right here — and there are a lot of them.
